Evaluation of Wheat Cultivars under Salinity Stress Based on Some Agronomic and Physiological Traits
نویسنده
چکیده
Fifteen Iranian wheat cultivars (Triticum aestivum L.) were compared for salt (NaCl & Na2SO4 in 1:1 ratio) tolerance using three treatments: 1.26 (control), 6.8 and 13.8 dSm in a green house. During vegetable growth, shoot Na, K, K: Na ratio and agronomic traits such as 1000-grain weight, grain yield, biological yield, number of tillers, number of fertile tillers, spike length, salinity susceptibility index (SSI) and salt tolerance index (STI) were measured. In general, tolerant cultivars (Kavir, Niknejad, Chamran & Falat) with better agronomic performance, contained low Na and higher K and K: Na ratio compared to non-tolerant ones (Ghods, Bayat, Cross Adl & Zarin). Shoot Na content was negatively correlated with grain yield (r = -0.37, p< 0.05). There was a negative correlation between shoot Na content and STI (r = -0.66, p< 0.01) and a positive one with SSI (r = 0.71, p< 0.01). These two indexes may be useful for selection of tolerant cultivars under saline conditions.

Genetic analysis of agronomic and physiological traits of bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) using generation mean analysis under drought stress conditions and spring planting in the cold climate
Study of heritability and gene action to improve agronomic and physiological traits, especially under drought stress conditions, are very important. The objectives of this study were to investigate heritability for important agronomic traits and some physiological characters in a cross between two spring wheat cultivars. The experiment was carried out using different generations (BC1, BC2, F3, ...

متن کاملEvaluation of some physiological and biochemical characteristics of bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) genotypes under salinity stress
Since about 20% of the world's arable land and 50% of productions in the world are subject to salinity stress, it affects all stages of plant life from germination to seed production. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of salinity stress on physiological and biochemical characteristics of some wheat cultivars. For this purpose, a factorial experiment was conducted in a complete...

In order to determine the heritability and genetic parameters of some agronomic traits in barely (Hordeum vulgare L.) cultivars, a seven-parent half diallel (F1 crosses + parents) was conducted in the non-stress and salt stress (8 and 12 ds m-1) conditions in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Genetic analysis was performed by Hayman’s method and Griffing’s fixed model,...
متن کاملEffect of Nitrogen and Phosphorus Bio Fertilizers on Some Seed Germination Traits of Two Cultivars of Quinoa under Salinity Stress
Introduction: salinity is known as the most important inhibitor of seed germination of most plants and limits the establishment of plants in arid and semi-arid regions such as Iran. The first effects of salinity on plant growth are associated with reduced seed germination and lack of uniformity in plant emergence. Currently, identification and utilization of tolerant cultivars are one of the mo...
